About Tyres

It is extremely important for your safety as a motorist to have your tyres in top condition. Below are three factors that you should consider when it comes to your wheels. If you think that your wheels may be faulty or misaligned, don’t hesitate to bring your car into Kar-Dok, and one of our mechanics will be happy to help.

Tyre Inflation

As a motorist, it is very important that your tyres are inflated correctly. Under inflated tyres can overheat, and over-inflation can make your car harder to handle on the road. If your tyres aren’t inflated properly, you could risk damaging them and putting yourself and other drivers at risk.

Checking your tread depth

Your braking system relies on the tread of your tyres to grip the road. If your tread depth is too low, then you could risk skidding. The legal minimum tread depth in the UK is 1.6mm across the central three quarters of the tyre. Failing to replace your tyres before they reach this minimum can result in a fine and penalties on your license.

Wheel Alignment

If you’ve been noticing a slight pull to one side while you’re driving, it could be a sign that your wheels aren’t aligned properly. Uneven tread wear and steering wheel vibration are also signs of wheel misalignment. It is very important for your control of the car’s steering to have your wheels correctly aligned.
